  • Jon eats a King’s Ménage à Trois

It’s Friday, what’s a better way to start the weekend than a party?  A party in your mouth!  Ohhhrighttttt.  Today I present to you…King’s Ménage à Trois!  Three animals of goodness.

Ta-da!  [Insert trumpets playing] A towering sandwich consist of Burger King’s Bacon Tendercrisp Chicken Ranch Sandwich and their regular hamburger.  I probably should of gone with a Whopper because the hamburger patty is so small.

The first bite, it was pretty good but my tendercrisp chicken was a little overcooked.  Since the burger patty was on the small side I could barely taste the beef.

The lettuce and tomatoes makes me feel a bit healthier.

    Eaten!

That was a good lunch, except it would of been better if the tendercrisp chicken wasn’t over cooked.

  • Battlefield Heroes – failed

    battlefield_heroes_logo_clear copy

I’ve done quite a few beta testing in the past but never had issues where I can’t even start the game.  I was excited to receive my beta key for Battlefield Heroes two days ago.  As soon as I got home I started the download before I went to make dinner so that I can play after I eat.  While my dinner is cooking I went ahead and created my first Hero.

What is Battlefield Heroes?  It’s a less complicated cartoon style version of the Battlefield series gear towards the casual crowd.  The concept is the same, capture the flag points to run down the opposing team’s tickets.  There are only 3 classes to choose from and they have individual abilities.  The game is said to be free to play but there is an option to buy (with real $) Battlefunds (virtual currency) to purchase items in the game store, such as clothing and items to level up faster.

The download is finished and I’m eating dinner, so I launched the game and kind of expect a full screen load but instead it opens in a smaller browser window.  Interesting I thought, it’s going to be browser based.  Anyways, I continued on to select the hero I created earlier and clicked ‘Enter’.  Then I got hit with an error message.  Ugh, “Unable to connect. (1009)”, wtf… I clicked ‘OK’ and the game exits.  Tried again, same thing.  I went to the forum on the website, submitted my report and gave up for now.”

Next day I got home to attempt another try.  Bam!  This time I got a different error, “Internal error. (2)”.  Like I know what that means, so I tried again and got the same error.  Then I went to the forum and submitted my report for this and gave up.  What a disappointment since I wasn’t expecting to get nothing out of this beta this early.  Even Quake Live wasn’t this bad, I ran into issues where the game freezes during login and loading.  Once the game started it was smooth sailing.  I’ll definitely give it another shot and it works for other people, just need to wait for them to iron this one out.

Have you ever beta tested a game but it just won’t work?  What is your patience level before you would completely give up?

    +++++

    UPDATE

It worked!  After I got home last night I attempted another shot at it and I can finally play the game.  But of course it didn’t work right away.  I did get the usual “Internal Error (2)” then it loaded into the game menu.  When I was browsing around in the menu I was disconnected frequently and that was annoying.  Then I reconnected and as soon as the menu loaded I launched the game, to my initial thought of the game running in a browser was wrong.  It actually launched it full screen and I started playing through the tutorial level.  If you ever play any of the Battlefield series then you’re already familiar with how it works.  After exiting the tutorial I quickly jumped into a game and played a few rounds.  It was quite smooth, I did get one disconnect early in one game and the subsequent games are fine.  Finally I get to start beta testing this game after 2 days of glitches.

How often do you participate in a public beta for a game?

  • Jon eats a McSurf ‘N Turf

    Today I went out and bought a fillet-o-fish and a quarter pounder, then I assembled a McSurf ‘N Turf™.

Behold the best of both worlds!  Tasty ocean creature merged together with the juicy land creature.

This thing is almost 4 inches tall.

The first bite was tough, I couldn’t get it all.

As you can see I did little damage to it.

Second bite I got a good chunk out of it.

It was a delicious combination after all.  The crispy fish adds texture to the soft beef and the sauces tasted good together.

  • Jon eats a McGangBang

After Dan showed me the mysterious creation of the McGangBang, I was determined to eat one.  So earlier I went to McDonald’s and ordered myself a Double Cheese and a McChicken.  After I returned to the office I assembled it.

    McGangBang
This is a New York style McGangBang, it seems smaller than else where.

    McGangBang
The McChicken inside the Double Cheese, ready to be eaten.

    Hesitates
I was a little hesitant to eat it but nothing can stop me from devouring this wonderful creation.

    First bite
After the first bite, it was quite tasty.  You can taste both animals but the McChicken mayo is a bit over powering.

    50% ate
    Mmmmmmmmm.

    It was a delicious combination.

wouldn’t it be cool if you can implant a micro computer inside you?  for a display it would be either a contact lens or a holographic wrist watch.  all the input are done directly through the brain.

  • Go go gadget phone!

Thanks for everyone who voted.  Go go gadget phone will become a reality once I buy a Power Glove off eBay.  For some reason people are bidding on it like crazy and it’s more than what I am willing to pay for.  I’ll be sure to post a work blog on the creation of the awesomeness of the go go gadget power phone!

While my pointless project of the year is on hold.  I’m working on custom building a arcade fight stick for my PS3.  Why buy when you can build?  Since Street Fighter 4 was released last week, I purchased a copy.  Using the controller to play it is just plain terrible so the only solution left is to get a fight stick.  Everyone has been raving about the Mad Catz SF4 Tournament Edition stick but it’s $150.  Not willing to spend that much I decided to build one piggy back off the PS3 controller to make a wireless fight stick.  I placed an order for the buttons and joystick, hopefully I’ll receive them soon!  So exciting!

  • Pointless Project of the Year

I’ve been thinking about this for a while and it’s really pointless but it could be fun.  Without further delay…I present to you my pointless project of the year!

Power Glove Go Go Gadget Hands free Handset

    Gadget Phone

    Sexy Star Trek Communicator Handset

    Star Trek Phone

I bet you’re thinking  right now.  Anyways, let me elaborate on this a little bit.  First, the Power Glove is integrating with an ordinary bluetooth headset thus creating the Inspector Gadget style phone.  Since it is bluetooth powered, you can pair it with any modern cellphone.  Why would you want this?  Because the Power Glove was the rage when it was first released in ’89, every kid living on your block wants this.  Heck, even your grandmother who doesn’t know anything about video game wants one.  You know it’s awesome when your Power Glove starts ringing.

    answer phone

Just look at how serious that guy is with his Power Glove on.  IT COULD BE YOU!  Me actually because this is my project.  It make him look like he is going on a top secret mission with a 0.001% chance of returning.  Chicks dig that.  If that doesn’t convince you, perhaps this video might.

Second, the Star Trek communicator handset.  Taking the replica communicator and integrate a bluetooth headset into it, thus creating a sexy communicator for the modern world.  The communicator itself comes with 9 original phrases from the TV show!

  • “Enterprise, this is Kirk.” (Captain Kirk)
  • “Spock here, Captain.” (Spock)
  • “Bridge here, Captain.”
  • “Transporter room ready to beam up.”
  • “Bridge, this is the captain.” (Captain Kirk)
  • “Enterprise to Mr. Spock.”
  • “Captain, shall I beam down an armed party?” (Spock, plays during call-back mode only)
  • “Scotty here, Captain.” (Scotty)
  • Entertainment Earth exclusive bonus phrase! “Your signal is very weak; can you turn up your gain?” (Spock)
  • Not sure if the last phrase is true but apparently you can only get it if you ordered through Entertainment Earth.  Star Trek is making a come back, a new movie is coming out in May.  Who doesn’t dream of becoming the sexy Captain Kirk?  No women can resist Cpt. Kirk, rrraaarrrrrr….  Just imagine me flipping open my communicator and say….

    answer phone2

Hopefully after reading through my ideas have change the way you see it.  So I ask you, the reader, which idea would you like me to create?

  • Celebrity Crush: Beth Riesgraf

    Beth
    Name:  Beth Riesgraf
    Birthday:  August 24, 1978
    Current Project:  Leverage
    Rating:  Cute

I started watching Leverage because she looked cute.  Her character, Parker, on the show is a thief and seem a bit socially awkward which made it fun to watch.  Beth does a great job with her acting skills, some of her expressions are too cute.  According to whosdatedwho.com, Beth dated Jason Lee for six years.  Although at 5’7″, she’s just adorable.
