  • Zip, zip and away!

I recently had the privilege of receiving a Zipcar membership.  I heard of Zipcar before but never had the chance to experience it.  Basically it a self car rental service; you reserve the car, pick it up, take it to where ever you need to go then when you’re done just drop it off where ever you picked it up from.

They have a lot of locations around the city where you can pick up the car from and also different types of cars.  From Toyota Matrix to BMW 325 all equip with XM Radios and the best part is you don’t pay for gas.  It’s great if you need go somewhere spontaneously, just reserve online and you’re on your way to get the car.  The cool part is that you receive a Zipcard when you’re approved and that’s how members access the car they reserve.  There’s a little sensor on the windshield where you hold the card against it then the door unlocks, if you didn’t reserve the car and tried to access it then it won’t work.  So fast, so easy.

This is such a cool idea and you skip all the hassle of dealing with rental companies!  Now I’m excited to try different cars each time I travel.

  • Chicago

Ahhh yeahhhh….I’m finally home for the holidays.  It’s a great feeling to get away from the city since the transit was on strike, but now they seemed to stop striking shortly after I arrived in Chicago.  Never the less as I came home I was greeted with my new Lenovo(IBM) X41.  I thought it was going to be delivered tomorrow but it was delivered this morning.  Awesome.  Now I can roam around wirelessly.

Anyways, it’s relaxing to be home.

    I still play Nintendo!

I also had a chance to try out the DS, the d-pad was too small for my thumb.  I was having a hard time playing Mario Kart.

  • Umbrella – easily one of the worst inventions ever!

I wanted to write about this for a while now, since I’m doing my laundry and it’s raining outside it makes really want to talk about it.

I have been thinking as I walked home in the rain and looking at the people who do carry an umbrella.  Man it could be one of the worst inventions of all times, here’s why….

    Pro(s)

    • Somewhat keeps you from getting rained on.  With a gust of wind the lower half of your body still gets wet.

    Con(s)

    • It has pointy corners that can poke someone’s eye out, in worst case both of them.
    • It takes up a lot of space.  I see people walking on the sidewalk and get stuck because everyone is trying to battle for umbrella space.
    • A strong gust of wind can render your umbrella useless.  Your umbrella will be flipped upside down.
    • Instead of making them better, they decided to make them bigger.
    • Gust proof umbrellas are pretty damn expensive.
    • Makes some people dumb.  All they care about is prevent rain from getting on them and they don’t realize they’re running into people with it.

That’s all I can think of right now but as you can see, the cons out weight the pros by a lot.  The shape of the umbrella haven’t changed much, except the materials used have improved.  The umbrella was first used to provide shade from the sun, then later evolved to block rain.  Anyways, umbrella are dangerous and no I don’t use one.

  • Resurrecting the helicopter

I thought I write a post to test out the new title feature that Joel have been busy working on for weeks.

A few weeks ago Dave and I bought remote controlled helicopters off eBay for less than $100.  It’s the Walkera Dragonfly, it’s electric, small and very jittery to fly.  The first time we tried to fly it we were so nervous, we barely got it off the ground.  Everyone watching was scared to get close to it and probably felt nervous for us.  The key is to just get it off the ground so that it won’t be affected by the ground effect.  After it takes off it’s still pretty hard to control because it uses servos to control the pitch and roll so there is a slight delay, you just have to tap the joysticks.  I’m sure with more practice it’ll become pretty natural to pilot the thing.  It did have flight sims to practice with but it was way too easy and unrealistic.

Right now we’re pretty much grounded because we crashed it so much some parts needs to be replaced before it’s back in service.  Dave ordered some parts so they’ll probably arrive next week.

  • I went to my room to grab some socks and was just about to leave for work, then I saw a pigeon outside my bedroom window.  The poor thing was resting on my ledge, soaked and sleeping.  I pulled up the blinds slowly to snap a pic but accidentally tap the window and woke it up.

    Good morning Mr. Pigeon.

I just noticed I got tagged by Joel, damnit (J/K).

    Five random things about me:

    1.  I ride a unicycle.  Yeah that’s right.  (See custom module)
    2.  I speak Mandarin, Cantonese and English
    3.  I sleep a lot during class.
    4.  I’ll soon be a helicopter pilot.
    5.  I can press a button remarkably fast.

I tag – Allen, PinkKirby, Mary, MizZ_dOrKee, and Janet

I also want to make an exception to tag a sixth person, Ted.

  • Season premier of Smallville tonight!

  • It is almost October and I can’t think of any holiday during that month than Halloween.  For the older of us, we use to love going houses to houses and do some trick or treating.  But the best part is you get to dress up to be anything you want, whether it be a zombie, super hero or even a clown that’s what make Halloween fun.

Some of us are pass the trick or treat stage, we just dress up and go to parties to meet other goblins and ghouls.  Get drunk and be crazy is what we do best, also eat lots of candies.

It’s always fun until someone shows up with a bad costume.  There are always the creative dresser and the not so creative ones.  If they mess up on a Halloween costume, just imagine what they wear everyday.  I still haven’t made any plans yet but if I was going to dress up I know what not to do.

    Yes

    sadako   gundambike

Halloween is about scary stuff, that Sadako (The Ring) is awesome.  I would freak if a girl came out of a TV to kill me, very original.  The one on the right, Gundam, is cool too.  I’m all for any giant robots, especially ones that travels around on a bicycle.

    No

    busstop  darth

Has anyone seen Totoro?  Well I have, and dressing up as one is not cute.  That guy is not even fuzzy and the suit is skin tight.  Sick.  I don’t even know who/what that is standing next to “Totoro” but it’s just gross.  Wtf is up with that “Darth Vader”.  If you’re going to be Vader you have to be a guy and Vader can kill you with a blink of an eye.  She just ruined it for everyone, it’s lame but pretty funny.

Is anyone going to dress up this year or know any cool parties around the NYC area?

  • I was just watching Iron Chef, Scampi Battle between Masahiko Hagiwara and Chen Kenichi.  Then they were showing these 2 guys that were accompanying Hagiwara and one of them looks really pissed off for some reason.  I didn’t pay attention if that guy battled Kenichi and lost or not, but he looks really really pissed off.  He looks like he wants to rape your pet gold fish and set your house on fire.
