More systems, more fun!
Bought a PS3 gearing it up for Metal Gear Solid 4. I also picked up Burnout Paradise just so I have something to play before MGS4 is released next week. It’s quite heavy for a console but it looks sexy with the glossy black finish, if you’re thinking about getting a PS3 I would recommend getting the 40 GB model. You can buy a hard drive later and upgrade it yourself for way less than buying the 80 GB model. A 160 GB notebook hard drive will only run you about $117, the Seagate Momentus 7200.2. It is very easy to swap it out and the PS3 OS have built-in utilies to format the drive for you.
Burnout Paradise is a great game and now it takes on more of a free form style like the later NFS series. You drive around looking for events to enter, makes the game less linear. I always liked the Burnout series since the first one so I was familiar with how it works. Now the only gripe I have so far is that you can’t hit traffic cars from the rear anymore, you’ll instantly wreck your car. I miss being able to slide then blow up your car after you wreck for some collateral damage. Everything else is still pretty cool from car damages and the crazy crashes, the graphics are amazing too. Now I just need to get a HDTV to compliment the system.
Not long ago I was just talking about console gaming is becoming more mainstream and now I’m finding myself walking down that path. I still have love for the PC but only certain games are console worthy for me. Such as racing, RPG, fighting and sports. So it’s going to be a weekend of gaming for me.

Woe! So did I and with the 40. Just two days ago. Not so into the games they have yet. My all time fave game is Oblivion ’cause I like the exploration and graphics in games more than the action. Kinda like the whole guild quest thing, too; and spell casting. They do have Oblivion for the PS3 but I already conquered that one with everything available to plug into it. Can you recommend any game they have or will be having that is primarily RP and exploration?
Play on, Jon…play on…(crash into a few cars for me…)
I do already have the HDTV but a smaller one. You are in for a treat when you pare them puppies. So sweet, I am shopping for a BIG HD to intensify the rush. OK…I’m a tech junky. But on LARGE HD Blu-Ray I might even be tempted to give Oblivion another run. That would be so bad of me…I still have flashbacks from playing it on a 17″ laptop.
ppl are saying the 80 is the way to go. it comes with dual shock controller, and backward compat with previous PS games. oh and it upscales the games as well.
there is also a deal on slickdeals regarding both the 40gb and 80gb. 200bucks in credit. 100 of the 200 is given back to your (sony) credit card, and the other hundred is given as a giftcard to walmart.
*shrug.
either way, either choice is a bad one seeing as how the xbox360 is the superior gaming console machine.
xbox FTW!
p/s.: i kid. maybe.
@BADBOYDOOMDADDY - cool! i did bought a 52″ HDTV not long ago but it was out of stock after the order went through. rumor there will be a price war between samsung and sony sometime this month and i’m also waiting till after i move. right now there isn’t much RP games but if you like action i’d recommend Devil May Cry 4 or Ninja Gaiden Sigma.
@edlives - i took down a few cars in your name ed.
@owbert - i’m happy with the 40 gb, the backward compatibility is through software emulation which isn’t that great. the 40 gb upscales the games too. i did see the walmart deal but it was out of stock when i was looking to buy. at least the PS3 doesn’t get red ring of death hehehe and it comes with blu-ray player, unlike the xb360 it’s a seperate add-on for hd.
@Jon - Sah-weet!!!
We just did the whole HDTV thing for the kids’ PS3. I have to admit, it’s brilliant.
@SaadiaOnline - oh nice! i’m looking forward to upgrade to HD soooooon!
Xanga! have you thought about creating an application for Apple’s
iPhone that would allow users to post a Xanga blog on the go while
being able to post pictures right from your iPhone? I thought it would
be a great idea that all members would love because it is very hard to
try and add a post on Xanga without a computer. Thank you!
